Living in Harlingen
Located at the southern tip of Texas, just north of Mexico and minutes
from the Gulf Coast, Harlingen is blessed with South Texas charm
flavored with the traditions of
Mexico, all in a semi-tropical climate that invites year-round outdoor
fun. Recently named an All-America City, Harlingen offers much to see
and do-shopping for antiques in the Jackson Street historic district,
exploring exotic Mexico across the Rio Grande, reviewing the exhibits at
the art gallery, celebrating at the annual RioFest, rooting for your
minor league baseball team, golfing at one of the area's 30 courses,
watching birds or hiking in the wildlife refuge, or enjoying the beach
at nearby South Padre Island.
Family life is easy in Harlingen. The newly renovated Valley International Airport provides ready access to major commercial airlines. Education is first-rate with magnet schools in the South Texas Independent School District, many private school options (including Montessori programs), and undergraduate and graduate programs at three nearby colleges and universities. Harlingen's growing economy offers many employment options for spouses. And Harlingen also offers one of the lowest costs of living in the nation. For more information, visit Harlingen's website at http://www.harlingen.com.
